Statement: Gaza is starving

The people of Gaza are being starved. As Israel’s bombs continue to fall – with over 50,000 killed over the past 21 months – Israel is now also using starvation as a weapon of war. It is imposing an aid blockade leading to crisis levels of malnutrition and hundreds of Palestinians being killed as their bodies suffocate from lack of food and water.

This week, more than 100 aid and human rights organisations working in Palestine have come together to issue a warning to global leaders that more Palestinians will die due to Israel’s actions.

Amnesty International has described Israel’s ‘aid system’ in Gaza as death traps for Palestinians. Doctors Without Borders (MSF) say Israel’s aid blockade and total siege has created chaos, starvation and death. The head of the World Health Organisation calls it “man-made mass starvation”.

What limited aid is allowed through is taken to distribution points that have become the sites of mass shootings, including of children, by the Israeli Defence Forces.

Stop Trump is appalled beyond words by the ongoing genocide in Gaza and Israel’s crimes against humanity. We stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

We condemn the actions of Trump and the US in supporting the Netanyahu regime – and the British government and governments around the world who are failing to uphold international humanitarian laws. In failing to prevent it, they are all complicit in a live-streamed genocide.

We support the hundreds of organisations, and people of good conscience across the globe, who refuse to look the other way and remain silent as the slaughter of Palestinians gathers pace.

The US, and our government in the UK, must ensure there is:

The genocide must stop. The UK government must back its performative anger with real and meaningful actions to hold its ally Israel to account and bring an end to the occupation and genocide of Palestine.

Stop Trump Coalition supports the Stop Starving Gaza day of action, Friday 25 July.
