Our strategy

Our vision:

A progressive, democratic country based on peace, social justice and international cooperation. All of which the far right, and Trump, threaten.

Stop Trump was founded in response to Trump’s first term because we know that his impact is not limited to the United States. We also know that he is a symptom of the growing threat of authoritarianism, not the cause — an alliance of white nationalists and the ultra-rich have been actively working to undermine democracy and cement their hold on power permanently both in the US and the UK.

We connect the dots between Trumpism and authoritarianism here – and take action – to prevent the UK from further following the American path toward fascism, and instead build toward a progressive future.

This means that together, our coalition seeks to build momentum behind an alternative politics to stop a Reform Government in the UK, stop the Labour Government’s lurch to the right, and build a progressive, internationalist politics rooted in solidarity. We do this in a context where Trumpism is already taking root in the UK – aided by dark money from the super rich.

How do we achieve change?

Our work has three key strands: public campaigning, solidarity and movement building, and mobilisation.

Public campaigning

We, as a movement, influence the public narrative against far-right politics and global fascism. In shaping this, we build pressure on politicians and parties to stand up to authoritarians and enact progressive policies. We do this through:

Solidarity and movement building

Our opponents depend on a divide and conquer strategy, so we treat an attack on one like an attack on all. We will work in collaboration with others and continue to build bridges between:

  1. direct action and grassroots activists
  2. mainstream civil society and NGOs
  3. traditional left organising groups including trade unions
  4. people without a political or organising background

to develop and promote an alternative, democratic vision of British politics based on peace, social justice and international cooperation.

Mobilisation

Stop Trump supporters have collectively sent tens of thousands of petition signatures to the UK Government and emailed MPs in order to pressure them to act against Trumpism. From stopping the UK giving a tax break to big tech CEOs, to getting big money out of UK politics, or demanding an end to imperialist attacks on Ukraine, Gaza and Venezuela; our power is strongest when we all come together to take action.

We build and sustain our movement’s power by helping individuals take leadership in their communities. We mobilise people through:

What’s next?

As we plan our campaigning for 2026, the World Cup looms large. Hosting will be shared between the US, Mexico and Canada – but with the majority of matches taking place in the US, especially in the later stages. We plan to highlight the very real dangers of travelling to Trump’s US for people who are at risk of having a dream football trip turn into a US border detention nightmare.

2026 sees US midterm elections, which should be a setback for Trump, as well as UK local elections, with Trump’s British wing in Reform UK hoping for gains.

Trump continues to menace Gaza, Venezuela, Iran, Greenland and more. He is also still trying to push Ukraine to surrender territory to Russia. We will stay alert as Trump poses as a peacemaker while starting new conflicts and talking up the possibilities of US expansion.

Help us make 2026 the year that the UK government stops grovelling to Trump – fund our strategy as a Stop Trump supporter
